(French Military History) Joffre, Joseph --World War I Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces That Defeated the Germans at the Battle of the Marne (1852-1931) French general who served as Commander-in-Chief of French forces on the Western Front from the start of World War I until the end of 1916. A personal Letter, in French, 1¼pp, 8¼x5¼". Signed "J. Joffrey" as Lieutenant Colonel, on Rèpubllique Française letterhead, Paris, Nov. 6,1891 To Mademoiselle Marie Meroux de Valois, regarding the dossier of M. Moraly and suggesting times she can pick it up. A stamped seal beside Joffrey's signature is for the "Commission d'Examen des Inventions Interessant les Armées de Terre & de Mer." A partial split at the bifolio fol does not affect the text or signature. Estimated Value $200 - 400
