Lot 353

1826 N-6 R2. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. CAC. Choice lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with faint hints of very faded mint color peeking through in a few protected places on the reverse. A cent that offers exceptional eye appeal. Sharply struck with full radials in all the stars, crisp hair details, and veins in the leaves of the wreath. The only notable mark, and it is faint, is a spot of slightly darker toning tucked between the curl over the 6 and the truncation. M-LDS. The obverse fields are smooth thanks to a fresh die polishing and a rim cud extends from star 6 to star 8. The repunching on the left side of the first A in AMERICA is clear. Obvious wide doubling (from die bounce or shift) shows on parts of the hair from the buns down to the curl at star 13. Graded MS65 Choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #33441. Bland says MS60+ and tied for CC#4. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Nancy and Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 3 finer in 66. (PCGS # 36826) Value $5,500 - UP
