Lot 35

1800 S-205 R4 PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with lots of light brown and golden tan in protected areas. Hints of very faded mint color remain visible on both sides. Underlying mint luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. No spots or stains, only very light friction on the highpoints and a few trivial contact marks. The best identifying marks are a pair of extremely faint hairline scratches from the chin towards the bottom of the ear lobe, a thin planchet fissure that connects the lowest curl to the rim below (as struck), and a rim nick over the right side of the second T in STATES. MDS, Breen state II, with a nearly horizontal die crack from the rim to the hair under the ribbon and another crack at ICA in AMERICA. Our grade is AU50+. Noyes says AU50 Choice and tied for CC#4, his photo #20931. The attribution and Koshkarian provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 62, 1 in 63 for the variety. Estimate Value $7,500 - UP
