Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 126

Lot 343

1879. PCGS graded MS-65. CAC. PQ. A hint of light gold tone. Boldly struck and a gem with CAC approval. A low mintage date which is seldom seen and rarely offered in mint state grades, let alone gem as seen here. Just 25,900 minted in all for the year, and precious few survive! PCGS records 233 grading events, undoubtedly with some duplication in this number, which spans grades from PR01 to MS67 at the top currently. This is one of the key dates to the series, topped only by the 1880 which has an even lower mintage! Pop 30; 34 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 3808) Estimated Value $2,700 - 3,000

Realized $3,480
