Lot 3377

Italian States: Mirandola. Zecchino, ND. Fr-746; CNI-pl.IX, 18. Gianfrancesco Pico, 1499-1533. Bust with hat left. Legend: IO. FR. PIC VS. MIRANDVLAE. D. C. C. Reverse :; Double headed eagle on shield arms. Legend: M. C. //. I. -. F. //. On either side of arms. Another superb example of Renaissance art. A very nice example with lots of original luster, pleasant color and sharply struck. Very Rare. NGC graded AU-55.

Like the previous piece, this coin was struck after 1515, when Mirandola gained the minting rights, bearing the portrait of Gian Francesco Pico. As we mentioned, all Mirandola early gold issues are all very rare. This piece presents a beautiful renaissance portrait with a nicely struck shield on the reverse. Very desirable in this exceptional condition.
Estimated Value $25,000-UP.
