Marciana, sister of Trajan, AD 98-117. AR Denarius minted posthumously at Rome, c. AD 112-114. Draped bust right of Marciana wearing double stephane. Reverse: Eagle flying upwards, holding scepter. RIC 743 [as R3]; BMC 651. Toned in places; well detailed and Very Rare. Choice Very Fine.

Trajan obviously had a true fascination with coins. He created an entire suite of "restored" coins mainly portraying past emperors, as well as his immediate family — wife, father, sister and his niece.
