Lot 3283

Great Britain. Satin Proof halfpenny, 1924. S.4056 unlisted as Proof; KM-809. Not in Peck or Freeman. George V, first issue. An exceedingly rare Proof of Record in wonderful condition. Gem Proof, gorgous chocolate-brown surfaces having just a hint of golden red, full Proof sharpness of detail everywhere, high square and partial-wire rims. It cannot be seen in the slab but the edge is also mirrored. A great rarity, probably fewer than two dozen struck in Proof, almost none exist outside museums today; however it is believed that only 2 were struck with this special finish, having a strong "satiny" texture. A major opportunity for the bronze fancier or collector of rare Proofs! NGC graded Proof 64 Brown.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,200.
The Cheshire Collection.

Realized $1,438
