Claudius, AD 41-54. Gold Aureus (7.76 g) minted AD 41-42. Wreathed head right of Claudius. Reverse: Legend in three lines, all within oak wreath. RIC 15 [as R2]; BMC 16; Calicó 356b. Several marks and irregularities on obverse, not really marring emperor's portrait. Underlying luster, especially on reverse. Choice Very Fine/Extremely Fine.
