Seleukid Kingdom. Antiochos IV Epiphanes, 175-164 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.87 g) minted at Ake, 168-164 BC. Diademed head right of the king. Reverse: Zeus seated left, holding Nike and scepter; to left, palm. Cf. Mørkholm Series II, 10 (A10/--). Boldly struck, delicately toned, and the finest example we have seen. An absolutely marvelous tetradrachm. Superb Extremely Fine.

An important biblical reference coin struck at Ake (Akko) during the period of this king's most abusive practices against the Jews.
