Lot 312

1800/179 Dpraped Bust Cent. . S-194 or 195. About Good-3 Obverse Brockage. A couple points sharper with very fine porosity covering much of the planchet, strongest in the field left of the hair ribbon. No marks or verdigris. Rather glossy very dark olive and steel. The date is weak but readable, and the 0 over 9 overdate is clear inside the first 0. Nothing special except that this piece is an obverse brockage. This planchet entered the press while the previously struck cent remained in place. The result was a normal obverse impression on this planchet but the reverse was struck against the previously struck obverse leaving an incuse impression of that obverse. The incuse impression is rotated about 15 degrees relative to the normal one. Well worn but a very rare early cent error.
Estimated Value $500 - 1,000.

Realized $575
