Syria, Seleukid Kingdom. Demetrios II, First Reign, 146-138 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.91 g) likely minted at Mopsos, c. 146-142 BC. Diademed head right of youthful Demetrios II. Reverse: Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow; at feet, on exergual line, lighted fire altar; monogram at lower right and lower left (weakly struck). Hoover (Coins of the Seleucid Empire, Part II) 499 variety (probably same obverse die). Rare and seemingly unpublished with altar at feet. Obverse moderately double-struck. Lustrous. Extremely Fine.

The lighted fire altar is the mintmark of Mopsos, a city on the river Pyramos in Cilicia.
