Three (3) Greco-Roman Bronze Strigilis from 1st Century B.C. to 3rd Century A.D. A strigil is a narrow curved scraper, made of horn or metal (bronze, silver), used by Roman and Greek bathers to remove olive oil applied after bathing or exercising. Romans used them particularly in the hot baths and the task was often performed by slaves. On Athenian pottery, strigils are shown in the hands of athletes. This collection features three different strigilis with original patina.
