Lot 305

1838 N-16 R5- AU50. A frosty mint state cent that is covered with attractive satiny luster, but there is a dull dent or planchet delamination on the bottom edge of the fold of the wreath ribbon and on the rim below plus a smaller one on the rim over the E in AMERICA. Lustrous medium steel brown with very faded mint red showing through in protected areas on both sides. Newly discovered LDS with a well-defined rim cud break over the AM in AMERICA. Clearly in the condition census for this rare variety, the rarest of the year, and the only example known with the rim cud break. An important cent for the serious specialist.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.

Realized $2,703
