Lot 290

1851 N-24 R3- PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty medium brown and light chocolate with tiny peeps of mellowed mint red on both sides. The surfaces are satiny and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. Looks choice but there are a half dozen small rim nicks on the obverse and a small spot of fine carbon between the date and star 1. None of these marks is significant or distracting but there are too many to ignore. E-MDS, die state b. Just a couple of the fine die lines from the dentils at star 1 are still visible but the stronger die lines at the inner curl are clear. Our grade is MS60 net AU55+, CC#7 for the variety in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 1 finer in 66. Estimated Value $350 - UP
