1842 N-2 R1 Small Date PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty brown and light olive with traces of mint red showing on the obverse and 15% of the reverse with mint color. An attractive cent with just a few trivial marks. The notable ones are a speck of carbon at the dentils right of star 12, a spot of golden toning in the field over the bust tip, and a small planchet flake in the field off the brow. LDS, die state d. The hub defects under the date and all the fine die lines seen in the earlier states are gone and there are some very fine die cracks below the C in CENT and in the wreath under UN. Our grade is MS60+, tied for CC#11. Comes with a very nice provenance. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 7; 1 finer in 65+.
