1851/81 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS66 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Highly lustrous bluish steel and medium olive with 15% of the obverse and 30% of the reverse showing mint red. Satiny and virtually flawless, a beautiful cent. The only marks are a tiny nick over the left side of the first S in STATES and traces of an old fingerprint inside the wreath. M-LDS, die state b late. Most of the 51/81 feature has worn off the die but part of the undertype inverted 1 still show on the fight side of the second 1. Our grade is MS64+, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; the finest graded.
