Lot 249

1794 S-53 R6 AG3. The obverse is a couple points sharper while the reverse is weaker, as usual. Both sides show numerous tiny pits but most of the planchet is smooth and there is no verdigris. Recolored glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. The date and LIBERTY are complete and clear but the legend outside the wreath is worn smooth. An acceptable example of this very rare die variety, one of the toughest in the series of numbered varieties of 1794. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Dan Trollan 2010-Robert W. Holmes, Jr.-Shawn Yancey 5/28/2014-Dr. George Wilkins (includes the Trollan collection envelope).

Realized $1,440
