Jane Russell: 24 Stunningly Beautiful Portraits including Original Key Book Stills. and Ann Miller: 40 Vintage MGM Re-Strike Portraits. Jane Russell (1921-2011) proved one of the most enduring Hollywood sex symbols of the 1940-50s. She was discovered by Howard Hughes and immediately cast in his controversial film THE OUTLAW, which collided with the censors due to Ms. Russell's voluptuous figure. She was a popular pin-up photo with servicemen during World War II and went on to have a great hit with Bob Hope in THE PALEFACE, but it was her starring role with Marilyn Monroe in GENTLEMAN PREFER BLONDES that established her star appeal and proved a great success. 18 Vintage original portraits by Whitey Schafer for Paramount Pictures with many key book stills stamped with "Approved, Advertising Code Administration Hollywood, Feb 11, 1948" Also included are six vintage re-strikes from her photo shoot for THE OUTLAW which are quite famous and, finally, a boldly-signed, inscribed and signed 8 x 10" card filling the entire page.
Complementing this collection is an archive of the irrepressible MGM Studios dancing and singing superstar, Ann Miller (1923-2004). EASTER PARADE, ON THE TOWN and KISS ME KATE. All demonstrated her speed in tap dancing, usually wearing fashions that exhibited her legs to their fullest advantage. Wonderful archive of Ann Miller vintage re-strike studio portraits spanning 20 years and all in excellent condition. Estimate Value $500 - UP
