Attica, Athens. Silver Tetradrachm (17.24g), ca. 454-404 BC. Helmeted head of Athena right, with frontal eye. Reverse AΘE, owl standing right, head facing; olive-spray with berry and crescent above. Kroll 8; Svoronos pl. 14; SNG Copenhagen 31. Starr pl. XXII, 7. A marvelous boldly struck and well centered example of superb metal. Delicately toned with a hint of iridescense on the reverse.
