Lot 238

1868. PCGS graded MS-66. Lovely blue and gold toning with the royal blue shades around the rim, then fading to deep russet and lighter golden to the centers. Both sides are attractively toned. Production of quarters (and most silver coins) declined as the value of silver coins remained above their face value at this time. Hence most of these were hoarded or exported. This is one of the finest known today, with a bold strike, elegant toning and fantastic quality. Only 29,400 struck. Pop 2; 1 finer in 67. (PCGS # 5472) Estimated Value $12,000 - UP
