Lot 2320

1914-S $5 Gold Indian. PCGS graded MS-61. A yellow gold and lustrous mint state example of an issue tough in mint state and virtually unheard of above the MS-63 grade range. The mintmark is the normally encountered blob-like "S". David Akers noted that the 1914-S is one of the great rarities of the 20th century in MS64 or better. Furthermore, it was the dispersement of a small hoard that made M-S60 - 62 examples available and a correctly graded MS-61to MS-62 example is probably a very good buy. PCGS population of only 59 in MS-61 (PCGS # 8529) .
Estimated Value $1,300 - 1,500.

Realized $1,725
