Lot 224

1849 N-29 R2 PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Attractive frosty light to medium brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel the fields and protected areas. This cent has excellent eye appeal but I suspect it was dipped long ago and has retoned. Very sharply struck except for some of the stars. Nearly free of marks; a small spot of darker toning inside the top of the 9 can help identify this cent. MDS, die state c, with tiny rim cud breaks at 49 and star 13. Our grade is MS60 sharpness net AU58 and tied for CC#12 in the Grellman census. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 6 finer: 2 in 63, 2 in 64, 1 in 64+, 1 in 66. Estimated Value $400 - UP
