German States - Hesse-Cassel. Klippe Schiesstaler, 1630. Dav-6743; Schütz-776; Hoffm. 4613. 45 x 45 mm. Wilhelm V, 1627-1637. Bust right with M-D-C XXX and rosettes in corners. Legend: WILHELM. D: G: LANDGRAVI'. HASSIAE. CO: C:D:Z:E:N*. Reverse Tree in storm, sun above with Hebrew "JEHOVAH", with city of six houses. Legend: DEO. VOLENTE. HUMILIS. LEVABOR*. Struck with loop. Edge flaw. Toned. A total of Only 3 pieces known. Very Rare. NGC graded EF-40.

This particular coin has a wonderful pedigree. It has been traced from the Fiorino collection, auctioned by Sally Rosenberg in 1917, to the Virgil Brand collection, part 5, to the Bank Leu auction of October 1997. It is interesting how the date is divided in the four corners of the klippe.
