Lot 208

1849 N-10 R3 PCGS graded AU53. Glossy dark olive and steel brown with lighter golden tan in a few of the protected areas. Looks like a cent that may have been recolored long ago. No notable contact marks and just light friction on the highpoints, but there are numerous tiny planchet flakes scattered over the obverse. A shallow flake between the date and star 1 and another at the bust tip can help identify this cent. LDS, die state d. The added die line at the right top of the T in UNITED is sharp and the lump on top of the coronet extends to below the lower left point of star 6. Our grade is net EF40. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 1 in 58, 1 in 63, 1 in 65. Estimated Value $300 - UP
Ex Doug Bird 5/2018 ($395)-John McBride 6/20/2020-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection (includes the Bird sales envelope).

Realized $300
