Lot 207

19th Century Ceremonial Sword From a Fraternal Organization Such as Knights of Columbus, Pythias, Old Fellows etc. Antique, 19th century ceremonial sword, very much modeled after swords of the Civil War, but these were not used in the field. This example most definitely showing its age but these are not all that easy to find.
Details have a five pointed star on one side of chape, metal scabbard, some celtic like details on the crossguard and a coat of arms and eagle on pommel. Condition is good with blade having oxidation and the grip is a bit loose. A modest amount of cleanng/restoration could have this looking swell. Interesting note is that many of these fraternal swords were modified by a domestic terrorist group in the early 20th century for their nefarious ceremonies by merely engraving their letters.

Estimate Value $300 - UP
