George Barris Vintage Print From Final Photo Shoot with Marilyn Monroe Signed and Inscribed. Acclaimed photographer George Barris (1922-) began his career as the official photographer of Dwight D. Eisenhower (1942-1945) and his homecoming celebration. Soon after, Barris found his work very much in demand by Parade, LIFE, countless celebrity portraits, with is most famous, Marilyn Monroe. Barris first met and photographed Marilyn in 1954 in New York City on location for the film, THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH and became friends. George was the last professional photographer to take photos of Marilyn Monroe in her last photo shoot on July 13, 1962 before her untimely death. Offered here is a vintage re-strike from that final photo shoot cataloged for the book Marilyn Norma Jean by Gloria Steinem and George Barris., published 1986, Henry Holt & Co., New York. This is the image used for the cover of the first edition printing, however it was flipped during layout. Color photo, 8 x 10", noted at bottom margin Book Color Pix No. 102780. In upper left corner photo is inscribed to a longtime friend and signed by George Barris. Photo has minor rippling and evidence of handling, a tiny ¼" tear in left white margin otherwise quite fine.
