Randolph, Peyton -- Rare Virginia Banknote Signed by Randolph & John Blair (1721-1775) Speaker of the Virginia House of Burgesses, President of the Virginia Conventions, and first President of the Continental Congress. Partly-printed colonial Virginia five-pound banknote signed "Peyton Randolph" as speaker of the Virginia House of Burgesses, 5 x 6¾", Mar. 4, 1773. Also signed by John Blair, associate justice of the Virginia Supreme Court, who signed the U.S. Constitution in 1787, and endorsed on verso by Robert Carter Nicholas, Treasurer of Virginia. A few thins to laid paper. Decorative left border, under which is "To Counterfeit Is Death."A very attractive and desirable piece of colonial currency. Estimate $2,000 - 2,500
