Lot 2

1652 Massachusetts Oak Tree Shilling Noe-9 Rarity-5 PCGS Genuine, VF Details, Filed Rims. Dull medium gray and steel with glossy lighter silvery gray toning on the devices. Lightly cleaned some time ago. The Oak Tree is mostly clear but some of the upper limbs fade near their ends. The date and denomination are strong and the legends are easily readable, although a couple letters are weak. The obverse (tree side) is nicely centered on the planchet while the reverse is off slightly to the top leaving a few letters tight to the rim. There are traces of very light smoothing on the edge but they are not significant or distracting. Our grade is net F15. Weight listed as 67.59 grains on the PCGS label. Listed on page 39 in the "Redbook."
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.

Realized $1,880
