Lot 1993

1907. High Relief, Roman Numerals, Flat Rim PCGS graded Genuine AU Details. A nice looking example of this popular coin. Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the elegant Double Eagle named after him that made its debut in 1907. However, failing health precluded him from taking an active part in the leading up to final production. That credit goes to Mint Engraver Charles E. Barber, who had been on the staff since 1877. This very sharply struck representative displays only a few well scattered abrasions and cleaning signs that are pretty much excluded from the focal areas of the design. Replete with golden color, both sides are fully brought up throughout (PCGS # 9136) .
Estimated Value $8,500 - 9,000.
