Dore, Gustave (1832-1883) French Painter and Illustrator, known for his intricately detailed engravings and illustrations of classic literature. Inscribed Visiting Card Signed. 4 x 2½", on cream card stock. Signed and dated on recto. "A thousand regrets, dear Monsieur, at my not being available at home today, and all my thanks for your kind and warm support. I was detained in my home today by my preparation for the exhibition of watercolorists which opens the day after tomorrow. The inauguration is Tuesday night. I am enclosing herewith an invitation good for several persons. If you have an hour you will see a Tout Paris among the exhibited works which you might find entertaining. Cordially yours, G. Doré."
