Forrestal, James (1892-1949) Secretary of the Navy; first Secretary of Defense. Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of the Navy, on official letterhead, 1p, 10½"x8", 1945 Oct. 27. Very good; toning and some edge chips. An excellent letter to Max Forkish, stating the Navy's pride in him and giving examples of how the U.S. Navy was "the greatest Navy in the world.
