Faubus, Orval E (1910-1994) Segregationist governor of Arkansas (1955-67); in 1957 called out the Arkansas National Guard to try to prevent the integration of Central High School in Little Rock. Very good; some soiling. Four Typed Letters Signed as Governor, on official letterhead, 1p each, 1960. 1964, and 1965, to George A. Hall, a supporter, plus a signed and inscribed photocopy of a page about him from a 1957 Time magazine He warns, "…we no longer owe loyalty to a Party when it no longer stands for the best interests of the country," foreseeing the South's abandonment of the Democratic party after the passage of the Civil Rights Act.
