Egypt. Ptolemaic Kingdom. Arsinöe II, Wife of Ptolemy II. Gold Octadrachm. 22" Pendant Necklace with 22kt Yellow Gold Bezel and Rope Chain. Struck in Alexandria, under Ptolemy VI-VIII, Ca 170-116 B.C. Diademed and veiled head of Arsinöe II right, "K" behind. Reverse double cornucopia bound with fillet.
Ten years after Ptolemy II married his beautiful and ambitious sister Arsinöe, she took control over her brother and became the real power behind the throne.
