Lot 193

1801 S-223 R1 Error Fraction 1/000. PCGS graded AU-55. Attractive glossy chocolate and steel brown with frosty lighter reddish brown faded down from mint color in the protected areas. Sharply struck showing only minor nicks on both sides. A bit of darker toning along the upper part of RTY can help identify this cent. MDS, Breen state III. The cud break at RT in LIBERTY extends down the right side of the R, but it does not quite reach the notch on the right side of that letter. Graded AU55 net EF45 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, photo #34959. Also listed as EF45 in the Bland/Breen census. Our grade is EF45+. A beautiful example of this popular "Redbook" 1/000 error variety. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 1 in 60, 1 in 63, 1 in 65. (PCGS # 36278) Value $17,500 - UP
