Vidal, Gore. FIVE SIGNED FIRST EDITIONS, Collection #2: Messiah, Three Plays, The Judgement of Paris and An Evening With Richard. (1925-2012) Prolific American author, speaker, and critic who was never shied away from controversy. Offered are five signed First Editions and one unsigned work. 1.) The Judgment of Paris (1952), signed on loose endpaper, with dust jacket in good to very good condition with only minor edge wear, two small scuffs on spine. Book in good condition due only to a stain on salmon colored fabric front board, otherwise quite clean. 2.) Two signed copies of Messiah (1954) both signed on title pages. First edition by E.P.Dutton (1954) with dust jacket in very good condition with only very minor wear to edges and spine and a crease on front flap. The book is in near fine condition, quite bright and clean. The UK Edition, published by William Heinemann Ltd (1955) has original dust jacket in only good condition having chips at top of jacket and spine with surface wear on verso. The book in very good used condition. 3.) Three Plays "Visit to a Small Planet", "The Best Man", "On a March to the Sea" (1962) with Vidal signing on title page. Dust jacket near fine condition with only a hint of toning to top edges. Book likewise in near-fine condition, very clean and bright, 5.) An Evening with Richard Nixon (1972) with Vidal signing on title page. Dust jacket in near fine condition (one tiny crease on lower back flap) very well kept. The book near fine, clean, sharp and bright. 6.) Unsigned is a copy of Sex is Politics and Vice Versa (1979) a thin volume in only fair to good condition, no dust jacket, tarnished gilt details on cover and spine with some areas missing that was imprinted on leather boards, with separations at both end and loose papers.
