Lot 1911

1886. PCGS graded MS-64 PQ. A lovely coin. Strikingly beautiful rolling-fresh finish, bright as when first issued, awash in originality, the golden hue includes a light peach accent to the golden sparkle. Difficult to find, the most often seen dates in this series are the far commoner 1901, 1901-S and 1902-S. Dates in the 1880s, by comparison, rarely seem to be this outstanding. Both the peripheries and the central reverse are detailed and close to 100% crisp for their sharpness of strike. This includes the stars, which is a forceful reminder in a coin from the Philadelphia mint that it is quality that counts.Pop 7; 1 finer in 64+ (PCGS # 8708) .
Estimated Value $6,500 - 7,000.
