Huntington, Samuel (1732-96) First President of the Continental Congress; Signer of the Declaration of Independence; Chief-Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court and Governor of Connecticut. Leather-bound volume, British Revenue Customs (London: Thomas Baskett, 1745) Signed on the front end page, "Saml Huntington's book" and on the second end page, "Saml Huntingnton's book / Norwich," 8½" x 5½".n.d., 582 pages, plus errata and advertisements. Also signed by Robert G. Huntington (Samuel's son) and by Joseph Chew, of the famous Chew family of Philadelphia, whose book plate is on the inside cover. The book itself is a highly collectible and complete view of mid-18th century British maritime acts; it has been expertly repaired on the spine with a replaced title label and gold-stamped decorations.
