Lot 1858

1950-E, $5 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ. Fr-1966-B. The 1950E series was printed in limited numbers, and only for three of the twelve district banks. This New York example, which is from the much scarcer B-G block, is a lovely Gem with ideal color, bright paper, and bold originality. It is one of only five examples from this serial number block graded in all uncirculated grades by PCGS to date, with three at the 65PPQ level and only one (a 66PPQ) finer. If this were a coin, similar population levels would dictate a four-figure (or even higher) price tag. Small Size Federal Reserve Notes remain one of the great areas of collecting where absolute rarity can still be found without an astronomic price tag.
Estimated Value $100 - 150.

Realized $118
