Lot 181

1826 N-7 R1 PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous light bluish steel brown and light chocolate with ample faded mint color peeking through in the protected areas on both sides. This is a gem cent except for 4 darker spots that contain traces of very fine carbon on the obverse and a couple barely visible hairlines high on the cheek. These spots are located on the eyelash, left of star 3, left of star 5, and hidden in the hair under star 8. The reverse is flawless. MDS with clear die clashmarks on both sides, and the ones on the reverse are quite prominent and are rotated 30 degrees clockwise from a normal head-to-foot die orientation. Called MS63 and tied for CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#4, his photo #20970. Our grade is MS60+. PCGS Population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 65BN, 1 in 66BN.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
Ex Elmer Sears-T. James Clarke.
