1848 N-31 R2+ PCGS graded MS64+ Brown, CAC Approved. Glossy olive and light chocolate with slightly faded mint red covering 15-20% of the planchet, mostly on the reverse. No spots or stains, and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only notable marks are three tiny rim nicks at stars 8-10. M-LDS, die state d early, with 2.5 dentils over the R in AMERICA fused together by crumbling. A bit softly struck on the coronet over LIB but most of the stars have some radial lines. Our grade is MS62, tied for CC#6 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 2 in 65, 1 in 65+.
