1848 N-22 R1 PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Glossy light to medium brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. Looks mint state but there is some rub on the highpoints. The only notable marks are a tiny planchet lamination near the dentil tips left of star 2 (as struck) and a couple tiny spots of dark toning at AM. M-LDS, die state d, with fine die cracks on the reverse and dull waves in the field over the D in UNITED and through the right side of the first T in STATES. Our grade is AU55, tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census (but third finest of the die state). The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 1 in 63, 2 in 64. Estimated Value $275 - UP
