Lot 166

1825 N-9 R2 PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous light chocolate and steel with faint overtones of light bluish steel and generous traces of mint red showing on both sides. The only marks are a faint spot of darker toning on the inner half of the hair bun, a tiny tick in the field under star 4, and a small planchet lamination at the leaf below the junction of the E & S in STATES (as struck). MDS with an extremely faint segment of the arcing die crack from under star 4 to the browlock visible below the right side of that star, which suggests the die was lapped thus temporarily removing most of this crack. Called MS65 choice and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21152. Bland says MS63 and CC#2. Our grade is MS63. PCGS Population 1; 1 finer in 65BN.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
Ex Larry Whitlow 2/76.

Realized $6,900
