1848 N-16 R2 Repunched 184 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Choice lustrous light olive and steel brown with 20% of the obverse and 10% of the reverse showing slightly mellowed mint red. There is a small tick on the chin and a couple even smaller ones on the cheek, none visible to the unaided eye. EDS+, die state a late. Repunching is still visible at the left bottom of the 1 & 8 and is clear on the 4, and the early die lines from the dentils at stars 2-3 are dull but visible. A scarce die state. Our grade is MS63, CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 64 (only 2 graded RB at PCGS).
