Lee, Robert Edward (1807-1870) Confederate war leader, Commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, later Commander of all Confederate forces. Lee's fortitude and grace after the Confederate loss gained him the respect of the entire nation.
Cabinet size portrait of Lee in uniform, an unmounted image matted and framed to 8 x 9". There is some darkening around the edges of the portrait, possibly dampstaining or adhesive show-through. The image is strong and clear, however, and the overall condition is good to very good.
Lee is pictured about 1862, in a colonel's uniform.
