Lot 1582

1900-O, O over CC Top 100 VAM-11. PCGS graded MS-64. A nice white coin and a prime example of this popular over mintmark. After the Carson City Mint closed in 1893 leftover dies must have been shipped back to Philadelphia, which finally got around to partially effacing the CC Mintmark and stamping the O in its place for New Orleans. These went unnoticed for many years so survival is random. Thankfully for collectors some nice pieces, like this satiny white MS-64, are still around. Pop 32; 11 finer for the variety, 1 in 64+, 8 in 65, 2 in 66 (PCGS # 133963) .
Estimated Value $700 - 750.
