1848 N-3 R2 Repunched Date PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Glossy tan and light brown with a hint of light olive overtone on the obverse. Sharply struck with full radial lines in all the stars. The only notable marks are a pair of thin diagonal nicks in the field off the chin and a small planchet flake left of star 12 (as struck). M-LDS, die state b late. Most of the die lines seen in the earlier state are gone but repunching remains visible on all 4 digits of the date. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 6 finer: 2 in 63, 3 in 64, 1 in 65. Estimated Value $400 - UP
