1929. PCGS graded MS-63. Nice and frosty, this is the final year in which the mint struck Quarter Eagles. By the 1920s, small denomination gold coins weren't used much in day to day transactions since paper money (backed by gold or silver) satisfied the public with its ease of use (PCGS # 7953) .
