Lot 1440

1964. Error, double struck 75% off-center and a 5% brockage. PCGS graded MS-64 Red and Brown. An amazing error coin that has spectacular surfaces and color. The first strike was slightly off-center, but the coin retains the full date, next it appears this piece was struck again on the obverse about 75 percent off-center towards 10:00 on the obverse, with another full date, on the reverse, another planchet was in the coining press, so it caused the reverse to expand outward, distorting ONE. Last but not least, the coin was struck one last time, this time with a small brockage on the upper obverse towards 1:00 with a brockage, with parts of D ST of UNITED STATES visible there.
Remarkably the coin retains nearly full red color from the mint, and has been graded. A stunning error which any collector would be proud to own.
Estimated Value $200 - 300.
