Lot 143

1847 N-39 R3- NGC graded MS63 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous golden light brown blending to light chocolate on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and the eye appeal of this cent is excellent. Sharply struck with radial lines in all the stars. The only notable marks are a small group of very light nicks left of star 11, a faint spot of darker toning on the rim right of the top of star 11, and tiny planchet flakes in the field around ONE CENT (as struck). LDS, die state b. The die cracks on the reverse are clear and there is no trace of the earlier die lines on that side. Our grade is MS60, tied for CC#10 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the NGC label. NGC population 2; 5 finer: 3 in 64, 2 in 65. Estimated Value $500 - UP
