Caria. Knidos, c. 470-450 BC. AR Drachm (6.3 g). Forepart of roaring lion right. Reverse: Head of Aphrodite right, hair braided and bound into a queue, all within incuse square. SNG Cop 235ff. Bold, clean strikes, well above the usual for this series, and on good metal. The Aphrodite close to the finest styles for the group. Cf. Kahn, Knidos, pl. 6, no. 83 for Aphrodite. Toned.
